Filmed August 2006: In Korea this is called the East Sea, although on maps and globes in the US, it is labeled the Sea of Japan. To Koreans, calling this the Sea of Japan is very offensive. In the southern USA, we have the Gulf of Mexico and I don't know of any American who is offended by that, but because I love Korea so much and her people, I prefer to honor them in any way I can. Behold, the East Sea of Korea near the City of Gangneung. I am very pleased with the modesty of Koreans. I think modesty is a good thing.
