A terrifying fish has been spotted by a group of naturalists and its enough to have you avoiding sand for a while.
The group, called The Untamed Paths, discovered a long nosed Stargazer on an Intertidal Exploration in Singapore. The creature buries itself in sand while waiting for unsuspecting prey.
The googly-eyed fish have venomous spines and, occasionally, a worm-shaped lure growing out of their mouths that they can wiggle to catch prey.
However folks down in Australia can breathe a slight sigh of relief - the ambush predators have only been found in the Southern Hemisphere once; a study published in 2024 documenting the first ever recorded specimens caught south of the equator, near Jakarta.
