Some things are almost impossible to monoprint, so casting is a great alternative for these chunky acorns, just like the botanical monoprinting it is simple but wonderfully effective process, bringing out all of those unnoticed details, celebrating the changes in the seasons and immortalising the plant long after the leaves have become compost.
If you would like to try this process I have a little digital Step by Step guide and all the materials are listed on the website (just below the printmaking materials) on this page [ Ссылка ] link also in the profile.
The oak tree symbolises strength, durability, and endurance. Its robust nature and ability to survive for centuries have made it a symbol of resilience and steadfastness. It has been connected with wisdom and knowledge and was believed that sitting under an oak tree could grant insights and clarity of thought.
It has been associated with royalty and nobility. During the English Civil War, King Charles II is said to have hidden in an oak tree to escape his enemies after the Battle of Worcester in 1651. As a result, the oak became a symbol of the monarchy’s resilience and restoration. Apparently although I have never know it, but it may be celebrated elsewhere in the country? On May 29th, Oak Apple Day commemorates the restoration of King Charles II to the throne after his exile. It derives its name from the custom of wearing oak leaves or oak apple galls as a sign of loyalty to the king.
