For our fourth episode of our digital festival series we were graced by the wonderful womans behind the Voices of the Highlands Project. Since the beginning of the corona crisis, we have been working on our digital festival series „House Arrest“, so that everyone can listen to the best new music and interesting and maybe inspirational talks from home. Thats why we linked up with the best Asian artist, podcasts and community leaders from all around the globe to cook something special for you, for our people and for our community. Founded in 2018, Voices of the Highlands highlights their learning experiences and efforts to document, appreciate, and preserve Montagnard cultures. A French term, Montagnard refers to approximately 54 different ethnic groups predominantly living in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. For the time being, this project will cover four ethnic groups: Koho, Bunong, Ede, and Jarai. It should be noted that there is a widespread Montagnard population in neighboring Southeast Asian countries, as well as outside of Southeast Asia. This includes in North Carolina, where Voices of the Highlands are based. As Asian-Americans, they want to bridge the gap between Asian and American identities and cultures. Their hopes for Voices of the Highlands are to promote awareness and appreciation of an underrepresented community and celebrate the diversity of the Asian/Asian-American population.
