An examination of the twenty euro (€20) banknote, using a digital microscope. This note is the second edition (Europa series), first issued on 25th November 2015. The legal tender is issued by the national central banks of the eurozone countries, on behalf of the European Central Bank (ECB).

Features:
• Size: The note is approximately 133 x 72 mm.
• Beginnings: The note (€20) is the third-smallest value euro banknote, and has been used since the introduction of the euro (in its cash form) in 2002.
• Usage: The note is used in the 25 countries which have the euro as their sole currency (with 23 legally adopting it).
• Artwork: The note depict bridges and arches/doorways in Gothic architecture (between the 13th and 14th century CE)
• Life expectancy: The average life of the note is 2 years, before it is replaced due to wear.
• Security: The note contains several complex security features such as watermarks, invisible ink, holograms and microprinting that document its authenticity.
• Raised Printing: Special methods of printing makes the ink feel raised or thicker in the main image, the lettering and the value numerals on the front of the banknotes. To feel the raised print, run your finger over it or scratch it gently with your fingernail.
• Signature: The note contains the signature of the third president of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi.
