In modern dating, a lack of commitment is on the rise, leading to a new dating lingo - "situationships". Couples in situationships benefit from the romantic closeness of a relationship but leave out being exclusive or committed. It leads us to wonder, are situationships helpful or harmful? What is the impact of situationships on modern dating and why is this increasing?

Researchers in the field of psychology have started examining trends in modern dating, to better understand relationships in this era. This video examines the results from a very recent study published in 2024, "Defining and Describing Situationships: An Exploratory Investigation".
