Camping in the mountains can hit sub-zero temperatures overnight and being amateur campers in British Columbia we had no choice but to spend a night in the cold. Bundle up because we'll take you guys on a journey to our cold camping trip in British Columbia, Canada.
Golden Ears Provincial Park located 1 hour away from Downtown Vancouver is one of the largest parks in BC Canada. Golden Ears Provincial Park boasts over 60,000 hectares and consists of 3 campgrounds namely Gold Creek (148 sites), Alouette (206 sites), and North Beach (55 sites). Here in BC, it is recommended to book front-country camping sites as early as 2 months in advance. As first-time campers, we didn't think that the camping spots fill up quickly. Luckily we snag the last remaining spot at Gold Creek campground a week away from our camping trip!
We were so thrilled to camp in Golden Ears Provincial Park which is one of British Columbia's largest parks. Our campsite had a wide-open space where you can walk around the tall magnificent moss trees or run around like a kid as we did. Each campground has plenty of space from the neighboring campers and it was very secluded.
Although it snowed and we spent a night in the cold, we are still glad we had our first camping trip to Golden Ears. It was such a great time and we got to experience sleeping outdoors as amateur campers in British Columbia. One thing that we will be changing to make our trip better is our sleeping bags. As much as this sleeping bag is lightweight, we will definitely be needing a thicker and warmer one.
