Recently, there have been many research articles coming out in support of PSSE (Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis Specific Exercise), and specifically The Schroth Method.
In this video, Dave reviews a recent article showing that The Schroth Method can reduce progression in kids who have curves from 15-25 degrees. This effectively helps them to not need bracing and avoids surgery.
Here is the link to the article.

Physiotherapeutic Scoliosis-Specific Exercises (PSSE-Schroth) can reduce the risk for progression during early growth in curves below 25°: prospective control study
This is a great example of an article that supports the use of The Schroth Method and helps us to see what can happen when scoliosis is treated correctly.
A couple of key takeaways from this article:
* The patients did their exercises 5 days per week
* They were still growing with a Risser of 0-2
* All subjects had an ATR of greater than or equal to 5 degrees.
* The majority had either a reduction or a stabilization of their curve.
We hope to have more research like this come out in the near future. With what is out there now in research, The Schroth Method should be used as standard of care in ALL mild and moderate scoliosis curves when there is still risk of progression.
