Reagan follows the tradition of presidential farewell addresses and issues a warning that patriotism and a sense of history were no longer being taught and that the lessons of the past are being lost on today's generations.
He also describes what he means by seeing America as the "shining city on a hill" and concludes his remarks by saying that "We weren't just marking time. We made a difference. We made the city stronger, we made the city freer, and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all."
Absolutely right! Not bad at all!
