Police arrested 46 people, Wednesday, November 10, as protests in support of imprisoned former President Mikheil Saakashvili gripped the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
Saakashvili has been on a hunger strike since October 1, prompting protesters to demand that he be moved from a prison health center to a private clinic.
According to his legal team, the health of the ex-president has been declining and the prison hospital cannot provide proper treatment.
Following his presidency, Saakashvili was stripped of his citizenship and, after he left Georgia, was convicted of abuse of power and sentenced in absentia to six years in prison.
He returned to Georgia on October 1 to bolster support prior to the election and was promptly arrested. (AP)
