According to Dr Vergeire from the Department of Health (DOH) Officer-In-Charge, the common symptoms of an aneurysm include pain in the chest, head, lightheadedness or abdomen. Also, the National Health Service (NHS) of the UK has defined an aneurysm as “bulge in a blood vessel” due to the vessel wall’s weakness which generally happens where the vessel branches.
A small area bulges outwards like a balloon as the blood passes through the weakened blood vessel.
The symptoms of a burst cerebral aneurysm comprise sudden headaches, stiff neck, vomiting and pain when looking at a light source. High blood pressure, smoking and a family history of aneurysms are the risk factors for it, according to the NHS.
