The mechanics of playing tennis means that there are certain tendons and joints of the body that are used over and over again. Unfortunately, this constant repetitive use of a joint can lead to injury. For example, the shoulder is designed to allow our bodies to reach up and grab something from a shelf—not to repeatedly generate a 100 mile an hour serve. May Department of Orthopaedics at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
