The 2020 Nobel Prize season officially kicked off on Monday...with awards handed out in the 'Medicine or Physiology' category.
A trio who discovered a virus for 'Hepatitis C', earned the honors.
British scientist Michael Houghton and U.S. researchers Harvey Alter and Charles Rice.
Hepatitis C is a common cause of liver cancer, and the Nobel Prize committee said their discoveries ultimately "saved millions of lives."
It's the first of six prizes to be announced this week, including the fields of physics, literature and peace.
