Designed by the Japanese engineer Shinobu Miura and built in 1939, the Aniva Lighthouse was built in extremely difficult conditions, at high altitude, in the southeastern part of #Sakhalin Island
After the WW2, the soviets transformed it in a nuclear powered beacon and after the fall of communism, in the 1990s, due to the lack of funts, it was devastated and all the metal was robbed, making it unsafe for #tourists.
As a traveller, if you reach the highest point, you will be rewarded with stunning #landscapes of the Cape Aniva and the Okhotsk Sea.
