Khizr Khan, the father of a deceased U.S. soldier who was killed in 2004 in Iraq, criticized the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposed ban on Muslim immigration in an interview with China Central Television on Tuesday.
Khan has become a headline maker recently across the U.S. after he strongly denounced Trump, who connects Muslims with terrorism.
In response to Trump’s remarks, Kahn said that terrorists have nothing to do with Muslims, and he has received support from people across the political spectrum.
"But when we heard that Muslim American, what he is saying is in our heart, we decided to disassociate ourselves from this rhetoric and you can expect no better rebuke of the labels, of condemning all religions, condemning all immigrants, condemning judges, disrespecting women, enough. In the history of the United States, there has not been the case that the party leadership is saying something different than [what] the candidate is saying," Kahn said.
During the Democratic National Convention last Thursday, Khan said that Trump "sacrificed nothing and no one" when talking about those who gave their lives to serve the United States.
When speaking about his son Captain Humayun Khan, who was 27 when he was killed while serving in Iraq, the elder Khan said, "If [my son] were here with us, he will be standing right here, because that’s what he was. His hands would be on my shoulder." More on: [ Ссылка ]
