Colleene Answers Questions is a new series of videos intended to address both common and directly asked questions from viewers and those who frequent my Keeping the Piece Facebook page. Some questions may come from the comment sections on other videos. If you would like to ask me a question, please comment below or stop by the Facebook and post one there.
Today's question comes from Leo Contreras here on YouTube. He commented in the downbar of my video entitled Preparing the New Shooter: Sight Alignment Sight Picture. He says, "Hello Colleene, Just a line to say I really enjoy your videos. You explain every episode very well, especially if you are a new shooter. I have been shooting for a while now and I just acquired a S&W model 66 in .38 special and .357 Magnun - K-Frame. with a 2.5" barrel. I'm having trouble with sight alignment. Just can't seem to get it right. Any suggestions? Thanks! No trouble with semi-autos."
Many people have trouble with standard revolver sights because it seems like the huge front sight blade should be visible above the top of the rear sights. Many times the blade is colored, or painted, making you think it should be visible. Also, if the gun "feels level" in your hands, then this huge front sight blade is sitting atop the top strap of the revolver. In actuality, the gun will need to be nosed down a bit in order for the very top of the front sight blade to be centered and level with the top of the rear sight notch or groove. It is not intuitive, and feels rather strange in the hands. Once you get used to it, it gets a little easier. But, in my honest opinion, revolver sights are never as easy to acquire.
There is no "stupid" question when it comes to guns, self defense, and concealed carry. Most of the time when a question is asked, there are others wondering about the same exact thing. So, why not let everyone benefit from the answers to your questions. That's what we'll strive to do in this series.
I will only call the person by name if directly asked on YouTube, or if permission is given in email or via phone call/Facebook post. Otherwise, I will use a first name, or no name at all.
