Sony have updated their 70-200mm f2.8 G Master lens but, how does this stack up as an upgrade? Should you upgrade if you own the Mark 1? Is this one of the best lenses for Sony cameras? We've tested it out so let's talk about it.

The original 70-200mm lens came out in 2016 and a lot has happened since then. Autofocus has come a long way (especially Sony autofocus) as well as lens size and weight and it's fair to say that while the Mark 1 is not a bad lens by any stretch of the imagination, it could do with an update to bring it in line with what you would expect from a G Master lens in 2021 and that's just what Sony have done with the Mark II.
