The DRC is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of ores, but also one with the economically poorest population. There are about 50,000 fighters from about 80 paramilitary groups in North Kivu province, exploiting mines and carving the country lengthwise and crosswise. By far the most brutal are the Islamists called the ADF. Due to their actions, villages are being turned into ash, and cities are being filled with refugees.
Guerrilla groups with the common name mai mai or in translation "water water" traditionally fight against all intruders, but often turn into the most common gangs. In addition to talking to refugees, we document the situation in the cities and go to the bush to one of the paramilitary groups.
Due to the specific situation, and with a low budget, the film was shot with a smartphone on which a microphone is mounted. The author published a travelogue "Behind the Mountains of the Moon" on a similar topic.
