This guide is made by a dps character taken as a base and by a member of "loot" guild. Thank you to my guildmates for allowing me to create this video.
Hello everyone this is GilGalad Gaming and todays boss is soulless horror in challenge mode.
there are three main mechanics that makes the fight harder:
1- On this boss your tanks get stacks on them, on challenge mode debuff stacks a lot faster on your the tanks
2- Wurms around the platform continue to spawn, so you’ll get lots off adds to deal with
3- the platform shrinks approximetally every 1 minute
Some people may argue that this boss is easier on challenge mode some may not.
Arena will shrink a little, so the fire walls get smaller. That’s something. So your party has a little chance to get separated from each other by giant fire walls which makes you lose dps on the boss.
Another thing is, the tormented deads has to be pushed, and if push mechanic fails and you get a bad rng with a fire wall, that may lead to a wipe.
Also the stacks your tank can carry depends on how good your tank and healers are. Because new mechanics don't actually change the fight. But makes it harder on some roles to play here
I think it all depends on how good your players are. In my opinion this boss is mainly on the tanks and healers.
So first thing you need to know is that you need 1 or 2 players to have an eye on tormented dead to push them away so the tormented dead doesn’t die among the group.
The tormented dead Starts spawning when the boss’ hp is 85% and keeps spawning every 20s,
After the tormented dead dies, they leave an aoe, slows everyone, and hurts like a truck. So you need to be careful to not to kill them instantly when they run to your group. The reason this is stressed a lot if because as a second mechanic different from the normal mode, you will get lots of wurms on your platform, that you will need epidemic to deal with them. Different than normal mode, wurms keep spawning in the cm. So your party’s dps stacked with epidemic can kill this tormented dead, as well as huge aoe’s from people, that’s why You will need to assign a person that will Knockback the TORMENTED DEAD and keep an eye on them.
On this video for example I am playing power necro, which is not ideal, but we had 2 epidemics in the party and my dps suck on my condi build which Im trying t figure out why. So my teammates were kind enough to change classes so I could stay pdps for this once. The main concern for me staying power was my aoe dps on the tormented dead and an extra epidemic would be nice on the wurms around the platform.
Second mechanic, This part is For the tanks:
you'll see 2 shiny buffs before jumping on the platform, one is green and and one is red. the player who picks red buff will be the main tank, the player who picks green buff will become an off-tank. Both players receive a special action skill which steals aggro. Tanks should keep an eye on their stacks, because using the special action skill will cause them to to gain Fixation. Fixation increases both direct and condition damage on them. As on technical terms, These stacks are actually called necrosis. But necrosis is the damage modifier gained by fixation. So, same thing.
The general idea is to swap tanking every 4-5 stacks one tank has. But if your healers or tanks can keep up with it, you can change the amount of stacks you want to get before switching.
another small thing:
Throughout the whole fight, there will be some blade vortexes moving around. Those are moving, circular AoE that corrupts boons on players. Such as blindness. Make sure to dodge those.
Last pro tip, tanking in the inner circle works the best on this boss. Because if you rank in the middle, you risk of bursting the tormenting dead. On the outher circle, you risk of having a wall spawning on you. So inner circle is safer.
Sorry for my voice doesn’t sound clear enough because I'm sick a little, but thank you for watching. And please subscribe for more guides, and request guides on the comments below.
