A Northern Traditional powwow song by the Lake Vermillion Singers, recorded at Oklahoma State University's spring powwow in 2002. This recording was made by permission of Lake Vermillion for educational purposes. The primary use of the video is to show the higher-pitched northern style of singing, as opposed to the lower-pitched southern, or Oklahoma, style of powwow singing. Close watchers will also see the singers touch the drum caringly at the end of the song, a sign of a respect, and also a further indication of the importance of the drum in Native circles.
