Join us on Tuesday, July 30th for the first session of our webinar series focused on the recently enacted Nature Restoration Law. This series aims to explore innovative strategies for restoring and protecting nature in Ireland.
In this first session, Grace, IWT’s Marine Advocacy Officer, will provide an introduction to the key targets of the Nature Restoration Law. We are also delighted to welcome our special guest, Fintan Kelly from the IEN, who will discuss the ways we can unlock the potential of public lands to restore nature in Ireland.
Disclaimer: In 2015, Bord Na Móna announced their intention to end mining peat for energy production in their three power stations by 2030. At this time there was no deadline set to end peat mining for horticultural peat. Subsequently in 2021 Bord Na Móna further committed to ending all industrial peat extraction, including horticultural peat extraction. Domestic turf cutting continues on Bord Na Móna’s landholding and several medium sized companies are (at the time of publication) still engaged in industrial peat extraction, including Harte, Klasmann-Deilmann, Bulrush, Clover, Erin, and Westland, as well as ~ 30 other small producers.
Don't miss this opportunity to engage with experts and gain insights into how we can work together to preserve Ireland's natural heritage.
