On Wednesday, July 19th at 6:30 PM, firefighters responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a field on fire near the intersection of Naumann Avenue and Allen Avenue in Homeland. The first arriving engine reported half an acre of vegetation burning that had extended into a structure, with the potential to burn several more structures, and requested five additional engines. After about an hour, the forward rate of spread of the fire had been stopped, and fire engines remained on-scene for several hours performing overhaul. One structure was destroyed and 1 acre of vegetation burned. The American Red Cross was requested for displaced residents from the structure. Thankfully, there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
