Week 21 in the ongoing Ⓢ series, which follows the construction of a new 13-story senior living building in San Francisco. This is a #construction #timelapse with various closeups and "sub-time-lapses" at various speeds, condensing the week of June 22 - 27, 2020, into about 56 minutes.
This week there's decking, followed as always by hangers, drains, electrical, rebar, et al. There's some more jackhammering. Another #concrete pour on Thursday, which means the ride-on trowels return. It seems the camera may have picked up a paranormal event -- some sort of apparition watching over the concrete pour. The concrete-flatness-measuring guy doesn't let any obstacles stop him. Of course more columns going up -- gosh, they've got those columns on every floor.
On Tuesday a prefabricated boundary steel element slumped over (no one was anywhere near at the time). Unfortunately, my only camera covering that area at the time was doing a wide shot, so a lot of zooming is required, resulting in a grainy video, plus the concrete pumping towers partially obscure the view. So it is hard to see. If you're watching on a small screen or at a low resolution, you may not be able to pick it out at all. (It fell over due to a mistake in the shop, no mistake at the site.)
If you ever wondered how they detach columns from the tower crane without having to climb up the column, we look at that process on Friday.
I'll look into making available numbered prints of Wednesday afternoon's artsy-fartsy segment.
There's often something perplexing going on in the alley, Monday evening being another example.
There were a number of partly cloudy days this week, and the clouds flowing past the sun cause a flickering or flashing effect in some of the high-speed time-lapses. I used some deflickering software in some places to soften that a bit, but it is just something that time-lapses are subject to.
