This week we’re taking a look at what may be one of our favorite pieces of kit we’ve added in this last year. The Inovativ Voyager 42 EVO Camera cart. We saw these at NAB last year, and we were instantly enamored, by it’s sleek design, smooth rolling wheels, and girthy construction. A real belle of the ball to transport all of our gear….So, is it the Ultimate cart for Film Production? Let’s find out.
We’ve covered camera carts before in our video on Top Camera Accessories to have, but today we wanted to take a more in-depth look at the Inovativ Cart specifically. Now this is an expensive piece of gear, BUT it has dramatically changed how we shoot when we're on-location for the better. And has made us a much happier filmmaker.
We’ve used smaller Rock’n’Roller carts, and the plastic Rubber made carts, and each of these helped, but didn’t completely solve our workflow problems. Having something like the Inovativ Cart that’s made specifically for film production, can really help streamline your work, and make moving around to different locations a lot more enjoyable.
We used to hate having to pack our stuff up and carry around on set, but having all our gear managed on this cart, makes working off site so much easier. In our Inovativ Voyager Cart Review we'll show you how the cart is assembled and built as well as some of the accessories we recommend with it.
Inovative has a number of different sizes for their carts, 30”, 36”, and the one we own is the Voyager 42” – which is one of their larger carts. I wanted to have maximum space when on-set for all our gear. Being able to transport more gear around with less crew is important to us. We can have camera, lenses, lights, and tripod all loaded up with plenty of space to spare.
The Inovativ carts can be used for a variety of crew positions and functions, but will definitely benefit you if you’re an AC or Assistant Camera; a Steadicam Operator; or a DIT. These 3 crew positions specifically, will really like what these carts have to offer.
