Welcome to the world of Vacheron Constantin. Today we're exploring the third generation Vacheron Constantin Overseas Small in 37mm rose gold. This 20th anniversary watch an be seen online.
The 37mm Overseas Small is the smallest member of the 2016, 20th anniversary Overseas collection. The timepiece features all of the functionality of the larger models with the addition of 84 hand set brilliant diamonds set within the Maltese cross style bezel. The timepiece combines the brilliance of the diamonds with an elaborate silvered sunburst dial to dazzle in any light, from the soft glow of the interior to the bright sunlight outdoors.
As with all Vacheron Constantin overseas references since the 1996 original, the cushion case slides seamlessly into the strap. The watch is available with both the Vulcanized rubber or a matching alligator leather strap. On the rubber strap, the timepiece features broad channels on the underside of the strap to allow the escapement of heat, sweat, and grit on a hot day or period of activity. The supple strap is equipped with a double deployant 18k rose gold clasp. When the Maltese style clasp is closed, the clasp features twin trigger release. This mean means the timepiece needs both triggers activated in order to open the strap. It cannot be opened by a jolt.
Within the 37mm case, Vacheron Constantin has equipped the watch with a manufacture caliber and a number of firsts brazen on the case back. Starting with the exterior, the twin trigger quick release system released introduced for 2016 across the Overseas line allows for quick release of the strap with as little as just a fingernail. This allows you to quickly change the strap with no tools that may damage the finish of the lugs.
Another first is the display case back atop two additional firsts for the series. There is a manufacture caliber designed and executed in-house as well as an Overseas caliber bearing the Hallmark of Geneva. The winding mass in gold is fully engraved with a compass rose emblem. All elements of the movement from the turning engine below the balance to the Cote de Geneve atop the bridges speak to the level of fit and finish.
The timepiece automatic wining features a 44 hour power reserve and a rotor born on unlubricated ceramic bearings for durability.
The dial of the watch is a refined as the movement as bezel. It features a silver sunburst radiating outwards form the cannon pinion at center. It's punctuated by a small sub-seconds dial at 9 o'clock on a separate plane to add another layer to the dial. All of the stations of the hours, on rose gold indices, feature luminova paints.
Thanks to the screw down crown, the watch features 150m water resistance attesting to it's pedigree as an all conditions sports watch. The watch features a para-magnetic soft iron ring around the movement, providing it with anti-magnetic properties up to 25,000apm.
