This was supposed to be a five-night luxury Christmas revisiting Montreal for the first time in just over 15 years. However, the seasonal airport chaos of 2022 meant that I ended up with only a single evening and partial day before I was due to depart on VIA Rail's Ocean to Halifax. Heartbroken? Yes, but there was nothing I could do about it, so I pared down my list of must-sees to those that absolutely could not wait until next summer, when I hope to return.
Obviously, I had to ride the Metro [[ Ссылка ]], that spectacular mass-transit system that sets the bar for other Canadian cities and, dare I say, many other nations. My first stop was simply staring at sunset over the Lachine Canal [[ Ссылка ]] before picking up a few essentials at the stunning Marché Atwater [[ Ссылка ]]. I mention another Canadian YouTuber for those who would prefer real-time market exploration to the little timelapse I include. Situated in Montreal, @ElenaWalks gave me this wander [[ Ссылка ]] right when I needed it most, as I sat at home in Victoria waiting for yet another flight rescheduling.
With only a few short hours before my train the next day, I had the toughest time-allocation choice, settling on not even remotely typical tourist destinations. Architecture nerd that I am, the Dominion Square Building [[ Ссылка ]] and Gare Windsor [[ Ссылка ]] won the day.
All the other gorgeous attractions of arguably the coolest city in Canada will have to wait for future visits, of which I suspect there will be many more going forward. Montreal truly is an incredible city. I can't believe it took me a decade and a half to get back there. Enjoy!
