Slash chords simply outline a chord and a specific bass note to be played "under" it. So, A/B would be an A major chord with a B as the bass note...simple eh?
Well, there are 4017 possible chords and 12 possible bass notes. That is over 48,000 possible slash chords....uh, let's just focus on the how and why...we'll ponder the solutions later!
