Francis Walsingham is famous as Elizabeth I's so-called 'spymaster'...but what do we actually know of the man behind this name? The loss of many of Walsingham's personal papers means he must be pieced together through his work, something which guided his life and those of the country throughout the tumultuous years of the Elizabeth's reign.
