Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, popularly known as 'Mysore Zoo', is one of the oldest zoos of the country established in 1892, by his highness, the erstwhile ruler of Mysore Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur. Mysore Zoo holds an important place in Karnataka, India.
3 km from the heart of the city, Mysore zoo is famed to be one of the oldest and the largest zoos in India. It is just 2 km away from the popular Mysore Maharaja Palace. With the beauty of Chamundi hills beside it, it offered not just a rich flora and fauna but also a breath-taking scenic beauty, incomparable to any other. Mysore zoo also had record number of housing various avian species, which are more than 40 other countries in the world. It is known for breeding of rare animals which is a feature present in very few other zoos in the world.
