Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is recommended for both boys and girls because it prevents HPV-associated cancers that occur in both men and women. Boys benefit from the vaccine’s protection against penile, anal, and oropharyngeal (throat) cancers. There are very few tools that can screen for these cancers in men and many individuals do not show symptoms to know they have HPV, so vaccination in children and teens is the best way to avoid HPV-related cancers as an adult. The vaccine prevents HPV infection and spread of the virus, protecting your loved ones and the community overall.
The Society for Women’s Health Research #SWHRtalksHPV Video Series was created to help parents and guardians learn about the HPV vaccine and cancer prevention by sharing facts and insights from immunization experts.
In this video, experts explain the benefits of HPV vaccination for boys.
