Erebuni Medical Center has recently acquired Rotablator - rotational ablation of atherosclerotic plaque of coronary arteries. In May 5, 2016 for the first time in Armenia on a master class in MC Erebuni, with the participation of the Polish specialist, head of department of Interventional Cardiology Clinic of Bialystok Medical University, Dr. Slawomir Dobzhitskaya has performed intervention cases with the use of Rotablator in two patients with lesions of the left anterior descending artery. Severe calcification in atherosclerotic vesels was the reason for the failure of previous angioplastic procedures in both patients.
With the help of a rotary atherectomy and using drills of various diameters doctors was able to expand the lumen of the arteries, after which the procedure was completed with a standard angioplasty and stenting with drug-eluting stents. Procedure went without complications. A day later, both patients were discharged with symptomatic improvement.
Introduction of rotablation angioplasty in cardiology clinical practice means saving and improving the quality of life of patients with calcified coronary artery stenosis, in which the standard angioplasty techniques are not effective, and in some cases - are contraindicated.
