One of the most famous sources for instruction on the method of loci is Rhetorica Ad Herennium.

Frances Yates discusses it at length in The Art of Memory, and as rhetorica, the Memory Palace training is actually quite slim.

But if you want to memorize information quickly, reading it is going to be a key part of your education.

Plus, full knowledge of its secrets will improve your persuasion skills so that you actually can use the method of loci with impact.

Although memory expert Ron White says it is by Cicero, it is not. He does give a delightful reading of the text here, however:
