Thousand Oaks, California, native Patrick Long has one of the most impressive resumes of any driver of his generation. In his 20-year career, 18 of which he spent as the lone American member of the Porsche factory team, Patrick won a dizzying number of races, including two 24 Hours of Le Mans victories, three wins at the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, and a victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, in addition to three IMSA championships, and two SRO titles.
His time with the Petersen/White Lightning Motorsports and Flying Lizard teams helped bring a younger generation of motorsports fans to endurance racing. In 2014, Long and fellow "Porschephile" Howie Idelson started Luftgekühlt, a semi-regular congregation of air-cooled Porsches and their devotees. What began as a small gathering in Venice, California, has grown into an international event and has profoundly impacted the Porsche community, bringing collectors and admirers from all walks of life together.
