German Poem by Felix Dahn
Translation by Beaumont Glass
All my thoughts, my heart, and my mind,
Wander to wherever my dearest is.
They go their way in spite of wall and gate;
No bolt, no moat can hold out against them;
Like little birds, they fly high through the air,
Need no bridges over water and chasm,
Find the little town and find the house,
Find her window among all the others,
And knock and call: “Open up! Let us in!
We come from the dearest and greet you politely!”
