China's domestic film market continues to flourish during the ongoing Spring Festival holiday, as more movie fans flock to cinemas across the country to enjoy the latest big releases during the festive period.
Data showed that box office revenue, including advance sales has exceeded 6.05 billion yuan (US$890mln) as of 8 am on January 27, the final day of the holidays according to figures from the China Film Administration.
The week-long holiday, which is usually a lucrative moviegoing period in China, is the first major festival since the country downgraded its COVID-19 management measures.
The once sluggish movie market is expected to make a strong recovery, with a cluster of highly anticipated blockbusters on offer.
Renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou's suspense comedy "Full River Red" topped the box office list, followed by sci-fi blockbuster sequel "The Wandering Earth II" and the animated fantasy feature film "Boonie Bears: Guardian Code".
