You can grow your own lychee tree. It is a fruit that is simply delicious.
To grow this use the paper towel baggie method and plant it once you see the root (radicle) grow.
You can also plant the seed directly in dirt. Soak the seed in water for up to 24 hours. Lay the seed on its side on the dirt. Cover. Keep the soil moist, but not too wet. It can take the lychee seed four weeks to germinate - possibly longer.
Keep the tree moist and under good lighting. Keep the soil acidic - ph of 5.5 to 7.5. You can add peat to the soil for acidity.
It can take many, many years before you see fruit, but it is a unique, beautiful plant nonetheless. Fruiting on lychee can occur in 5 years or as long as 20 years.
