Wine-Searcher.com editor Don Kavanagh tastes Jim Beam Black Label Bourbon. Aged for twice as long as regular Jim Beam (eight years), this Bourbon offers rich caramel aromas and flavors.
The Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont and Boston, Kentucky is the home of the world's best selling bourbon whiskey brand. Jacob Beam (originally Boehm) started distilling in Washington County in 1795. In 1854, his grandson moved the operation closer to the railroad in Clear Springs.
After Prohibition ended in 1933, the determined 70-year-old Jim Beam built a new distillery at Clermont. His great-grandson, Fred Noe, now runs the business.
