Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at our steel compact cargo carrier from Flint Hill Goods and how it fits on the 2023 Cadillac XT4. So, if you're looking for just a little bit of extra space for your vehicle, or maybe you're planning on hauling cargo that you don't want messing up your interior, I have a friend that uses this for his spare tires when he needs to change his tires around, or if you're carrying sandy items, muddy items, whatever gear, this is gonna be a good way to do so. This is a compact steel cargo carrier, meaning you can store this easily inside your garage. It doesn't take up as much space in your garage or on your vehicle and you have that solid base here.
So, the main things we're gonna talk about is how it works with the XT4, especially how much space does it take up. I like to measure from the bumper to the end of the carrier. That's gonna be 21 1/2 inches. So, this is gonna be a 52 by 17 inch carrier. That's gonna be your interior dimensions.
With the length added, you also have these reflectors though. That way, people know that you're carrying things around or that you have a cargo carrier. Now, another measurement is ground clearance. End of the carrier to the ground is 16 inches and that's because our hitch is kind of above the ground. It's a straight shank so there's no rise, no drop.
Where your hitch receiver is, that's where your cargo carrier is too. While we're here though, notice where the exhaust is on your vehicle. So, if you have cargo in this corner, it will get a little toasty for it as you drive around. Definitely something to keep in mind. Now, if you have cargo in here, can you still open up your hatch There's actually plenty of clearance between our door and our carrier.
Having it sit right there, we have a clearance of 25 3/4 inches. So, if you're just carrying around coolers or bags, this gives you plenty of space to keep that on there. You can open up your hatch to access your trunk and things like that, close it back down without having to unload your cargo. Now, with your cargo though, please make sure it's strapped down. We have some extra straps you can find here at etrailer to make it more convenient. You can use any part of the carrier to anchor those straps. It is made of steel with that black powder coat finish and you have this open rail design. So, even if you have muddy or sandy items, that's just gonna fall through the carrier. You can hose this off real quick and you're ready to hit the road again. This fits right into your two-inch hitch. You have an anti-rattle pin. You also get a little clip at the end. If you want a locking option, that is something you're gonna have to find separately. So, it's a quick and easy thing to put into your hitch receiver. You have it there, you have access to your hatch. Doesn't take up much space. Now, if you want more space, meaning you're carrying larger items, we do have some other options from Flint Hill Goods like an aluminum cargo carrier that's up to 60 inches long and a lot more of width too. That might help you out with carrying those larger cargo.
