Most of us rush throgh the gate to reach our destinations within the walled city of Jerusalem. It might be the wailing Wall, the church of the holy sepulcher, the Armenain quarter, of to visit the Dome of The Rock uppon Temple Mound. Others enter to visit the bazzars for some souvenier shopping , or to find some great hummus for lunch.
Jeffa Gate has been the main entrance to Jerusalem for centuries, and in my opinion has become a "site" itself.
