In part 4 we take the 924 Turbo on a road trip to Pueblo, CO to pick up some parts. It's not a 1966 Thunderbird, but it's a pretty capable highway cruiser! We pick up a 944 wing to replace the trashed factory turbo wing, as well as one of the broken A/C lines.
Next up, the odometer wasn't working (which is pretty common on these cars). We took it apart, reglued the counter gear, but it didn't make any difference.
The clutch looks like it is not too worn, but it's still not working correctly. Perhaps the rebuilt slave is not holding pressure. Perhaps the hydraulic line itself is swelling with pressure. I need to check it out!
After the road trip, I noticed a huge oil leak from the front of the engine. Turns out the front crank seal was toast! We replace the seal and get a chance to clean up the front of the engine.
Finally, the car was a little louder than I wanted. I picked up a muffler from Facebook marketplace, but it really didn't make a huge difference. Looks like I'll be replacing the gutted cat with either another converter or a resonator to quiet it down a bit.
I'm in need of a few parts for this car. Email me at autoanatomy@icloud.com if you can help!
-Speedo cable from oxygen sensor counter to the gauge itself
-Front windshield
-Gas/Temp gauge (the circuit is broken for instrument lighting)
- Gauge surround
- Tan carpet kit
- Fuel sending unit
I'd love to partner with a powdercoating company to get the mesh wheels reconditioned. If you're willing, hit me up at autoanatomy@icloud.com
