Phalaenopsis schilleriana Welcome to the Phalaenopsis schilleriana #carecollab. I have had my schilleriana since July 2021 purchased from Yoshi's store: [ Ссылка ] When I received her she was on a mount. When I unmounted her ([ Ссылка ]) I discovered much to my delight that there were two! I had planned to send it on to Bobby, at Cloudforest Vibes; Orchids & More, but that plant did not make it :( I had potted mine in large bark inside an orchidtop pot, and that is where she sat until about 3 weeks ago. She had done nothing in that time. I had a light bulb moment when watering a few of my other phalaenopsis from the same area as the schilleriana! You see, these are potted in a small bark and moss mixture and are thriving! I have had these since August and September of 2021 so I am confident that they love this setup. Sooooo, I decided to pot my schilleriana into the same setup...and within a week, there were root tips that are continuing to grow. The leaves that were once droopy and sad looking have perked up and become firm and there is new root growth at the base of my schilleriana as well.
Phalaenopsis schilleriana can be found in the Philippines at around 450m (approx. 1500 ft) and prefer warm to hot temperatures. During the winter they like a dry, cool and bright environment. If you are going to pot your schilleriana, use an open and airy media keeping in mind your growing environment. They are said to prefer a distinct wet/dry cycle in waterings. Humidity requirements is said to be at 80% and higher. I use a decorative pot with stones and water at the bottom to create a more humid environment around my schilleriana.
I have the Luzon schilleriana which is the most common. The silver-leaf schilleriana comes from the Sabah region in Malaysia and has longer leaves.
