In June 2012, queer activists briefly disrupted the screening of "The Invisible Men" at Frameline, the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival. The film screening was sponsored financially by the Israeli Consulate, as part of the "Brand Israel" campaign (learn more about Brand Israel www.pinkwatchingisrael.com), which aims to promote a hip and progressive image of Israel to distract from Israel's violations of Palestinian human rights and international law. The film's director, Yariv Mozer, who was at the screening courtesy of the consulate, was not actually the target of the protest, which was only demanding that Frameline drop its official relationship with the Israeli government. Mozer, however, was very upset about the protest (which did not interrupt the film itself, but the introduction by Frameline Director KC Price) and followed the activists out of the theater to argue about the cultural boycott of Israel. In the discussion that followed, he revealed some very troubling attitudes toward the Palestinians he claims he is helping with his film.
