It's finally time to say goodbye to the 2014 BMW 428i. This has by far been one of the most amazing and perfect cars of the 8 we've had, and I'm extremely sad to see it go. Very few cars can manage the level of perfection that this 2014 BMW 4 Series can, and making the choice to let it go was a tough one. It's all for the best, and she'll be back one day.
Thank you all for the incredible amount of support and love you've shown over the last few months with this car.

More About This Video
This is... it. This is the final video with the 2014 4 Series, as it'll be picked up for the new owner any time. The insurance is almost up. The final payment was made. The last tank of gas is almost gone. And it's been the best car of all 8 cars we've had. There's not a car that comes close to it.
So for the last video, I wanted to share my final thoughts and how my opinion about the 4 Series has changed over time.
It started it's journey with us as a replacement for the 2011 750Li xDrive - a car that makes you sound like an ass just by the name, but oh what a car that was. Between the S Class, 7 Series, and Audi A8 from 2011, nothing comes close to the 7 Series, but that's off topic. This video is about the 4 Series.
I had an extremely negative opinion about the 4 Series when it replaced the 7 Series - mainly because it was traded in order to get out of a catastrophe waiting to happen, but because of that, the 4 Series didn't match up. It wasn't as fast, prestigious, or luxurious. Because of that, I saw everything the 4 Series wasn't rather than what it is.
I stand by that the suspension can be too firm for daily driving, and personally, I dislike the iDrive system BMW use. I think it is way too complicated of a system that is designed to simplify the driving experience in most cars. Aside from that, I have nothing negative to say about it.
The more time you spend with a car, it adopts a personality. Or we just personify inanimate objects. Either way, the 4 Series has a character of the little engine that could... or leak. The 4 Series does one thing very well - pushes the bounds for what's possible in a 4 cylinder sports car that you can drive every day. Because of that, the 4 Series doesn't do one thing perfectly. Instead, it does everything with greatness.
Let me explain more. The 4 Series is quite a luxurious sports car. It's far from Lotus uncomfortable, but it's nowhere near 7 Series luxury. Turn around and compare it to a Toyota Camry, and it's a palace.
On top of that, the 4 Series is a quick little car, but it's nowhere close to the speed of an M3. Do I ever wish it was faster, though? No. I've never driven this car with launch control all the way up to 155 and thought “man I wish this had more power..” It's balanced, and that's something most other cars miss.
Where it does exceed, though, is looks. I mean, this one needs a bath badly, but a detail would make this the best looking car in it's class. The C-Class is too bubbly, and the Audi is just a tiny bit dull. The 4 Series is a striking sports car that gets attention no matter where it is. I'm still shocked by the amount of attention this car can get in Buckhead next to even high end sports cars. And the amount of times I've had to politely tell people it isn't an M is overwhelming. If you're looking for a cheap car to stroke your ego, this will do the trick. You can't say the 4 Series is average in looks at all.
I think the 4 Series is fantastic. There are things I dislike, sure, but I dislike things about the Range Rover as well. And that is still my dream car to this day. The 4 Series is a fantastic car that has tackled everything we pushed it through with a smile. From being stuck in gravel driveways to going over 60k miles in a year to blowing the tires at 155... it's always left us with a smile. So with that, we wave goodbye to the car that brought us where we are today with one final smile.
