Cramond Island is a must visit small island hidden by the coast of Edinburgh. It is only accessible by foot during low tide, as the approx 1 mile long causeway, connecting Edinburgh and Cramond Island is completely submerged under water during high tide. This causeway runs at the foot of a row of concrete pylons, which were constructed as an anti-boat boom during the Second World War.
Please ensure to look at the tide timings and make sure you have enough time before high tide to avoid getting stranded on the island. Coastguards recommend that the crossing is only attempted during the two hours either side of low water.
Cramond Island makes for an ideal evening stroll on a sunny day.
