Why a mall in China needs a humongous hot pot??? 🇨🇳😱👇 Household disposable spending in China dropped by 8% yoy in the first half of 2020, against 2% growth in disposable income — with lower income families the most affected. 🙈 Many department stores across the country are getting creative on how to attract foot traffic. In the below case, they use a giant free hot pot in the lobby. 👏👏👏 Good idea, you say?
Now, will the foot traffic continue recovering to pre pandemic levels, and if so what would be the important drivers? 🤓👇
✅ My take. Yes, will continue recovering.
The important drivers will be:
- interactive / experiencial pop up stores
- sales festivals and theme weeks
- new brands / new retail / concept stores
- restaurants
- entertainment (cinemas, game arcades, trampoline, etc)
- education centers (kids tutoring, adult hobby groups)
