The true struggle and most important question of the Christian life is “to what have you attached your needs/desires, believing that having them/it will fulfill your life”?
You determine the object of your desire/faith by observing your inner dialogue that is connected to your desires – what is it that you want that you don’t have? What are you afraid of losing?
We program those objects (people, situations, possessions) into our heart early in life and even when we have long understood that they are not God’s plan, we still want them and are preoccupied with either getting them or we live disappointed that we didn’t get them.
