“I have done my prayers on Friday night, I went to Mariaman temple and followed the radam (Hindu ritual). Then I followed up here. I'm happiness, I'm very happy, crowded - many of the people attending the prayers, so I am very much happy for the thaipusam.”

STORYLINE:
Hindus in Malaysia celebrated the thaipusam festival on Sunday, with devotees gathering in temples to fulfil vows and perform prayers.

At the Batu Caves temple near Kuala Lumpur, devotees have been converging for days leading up to the festival.

It was the first year the temple was open without any COVID-19 restrictions.

The annual festival is an expression of unity for Malaysia's ethnic Indian minority.

It is also a popular tourist event with visitors from across the world attending the celebrations.
