Our adventure continues in probably our most favorite region of Iceland, the Northeastern region. It is crazy how the scenery differs in just a span of 20 minutes. You can go from lush, green mountains to desolate, black rocky landscapes.

Our morning begins waking up at our Airbnb in Neskaupstadur. We drive a little bit out of the way to see a waterfall named Gufufoss and visit the small town nearby named Seydisfjordor. This small town is popular with tourists because of the rainbow road leading up to a church. It's a great spot for pictures!

Our Diamond Circle adventure starts at Dettifoss, the 2nd most powerful waterfall in all of Europe. The next stop was the small fishing town of Husavik, popular for whale watching tours and recently rose to fame due to the 2020 Netflix movie "Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga".

The last and biggest section of the Diamond Circle is Lake Myvatn area. First, we saw the Krafla volcanic crater, followed by a shower that never stops running and heated by all the hot springs around the area. One of the most famous spots in this area is Hverir or we like to call it "Mars on Earth" because of the red soil. It features fumaroles, mud pots, and other neat geothermal features. The last stop in this section of Iceland was Grjotagja cave, previously used as a public bathhouse but now off-limits, it is featured in some productions like "Game of Thrones". We wanted to see another crater named Hverfjall but time got away from us.

A jam-packed day comes to an end by seeing a very majestic waterfall named Godafoss, "Waterfall of the Gods". It has a very neat origin story and definitely is a top contender for one of our favorite waterfalls.

We retired for the evening at our Airbnb in Iceland's 2nd largest city, Akureyri. We were very exhausted from a day full of driving and sightseeing.
