This is a three year old British Labrador working on blinds and memories. The cover is poor but the wet heavy snow are not easy to walk in and it drags and uses energy. The frozen birds picked in this drill were placed probably on order of an hour and a half before the pickups. Birds were put in place but the dog saw them placed long before he picked them up and he sat in his dog run while waiting. This is not normal procedure but the batteries on the camera ran low and it needed charged. The positives in this video are some excellent dog work. The negatives are some fairly poor handling. Multiple commands with both whistle and mouth. Non-prepared casts by using the wrong hand when stopping the dog. Toby is out of shape in this video and overweight. He will be in running order after several sessions on the fence and running. I do no promote constant long drills like this. Only the short retrieve is in the distance most americans require a dog to retrieve. Competition may need long distances and surely Canada goose hunters might. But, for the average guy the same drill on many short memories or blinds is the way to go. Close working dogs will handle at distance if kept in tune close....
