Emergency Medicine @ UHN
Under the leadership of Dr. Anil Chopra, UHN's Emergency Departments treat more than 80,000 patients each year at the two sites: Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital. Providing exemplary care to patients is an emergency medicine team consisting of more than 50 physicians and 100 staff.
The two Emergency Departments evaluate amongst the most seriously ill and complex patient cases from Ontario and across the country. Highly specialized care is provided for patients with cardiac disease, organ transplantation, cancer, emphysema, diabetes, kidney failure, Parkinson's disease, arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, stroke, aneurysms, spinal cord injury, eye diseases, orthopaedics and plastic surgery.
Our Emergency Departments serve the local community and the GTA, but patients from all over the province come here for treatments that are not available anywhere else.
